Hotels Maurice Hurand: A Model Of Sustainable Hotel ~ Wednesday, March 17, 2010 15:50
The family group, which is headed by Jean-Luc Binet and his wife embodies the image of a charming hotel, combining a sense of welcome and discreet luxury in a very Parisian style. With the reopening, March 10, of Madison, the group is at the head of 5 hotels for 235 rooms in Paris.
Jean-Luc Binet, president of the Hotels Maurice Hurand surrounded by Christopher Cliff, director of the hotel Buci and Caroline Demon, director of Madison.
“The group Maurice Hurand is the image of our family,” says Jean-Luc Binet. We are a hotel for five generations. Maurice Hurand was the grandfather, but the real founder, purchaser of Terass Hotel was named Edmond .
But when we created the brand in 2005, we chose the name Maurice who spoke more to Americans. “To preserve the heritage aspect of the group, Jean-Luc Binet buys whenever walls and fund its hotels. The renovations followed. “We bought the Madison successively opposite the church Saint-Germain-des-Pres in 1985, the Bourgogne & Montana in 1990, The Artus in 2004 and finally in 2006 Buci. For the Madison Hotel, 8 million € of work have been realised -so 100 000€ per room – after the renovation of Arthur, for € 4 million, and Buci, which has been a first tranche of work for 600 000 € investment. “Note that the Bourgogne & Montana has undergone a total renovation of its lounges two years ago to 300 000 € investment.
Hotels Highly Personalized
Each hotel has its own personality. In Buci, “we’re in a hotel of Louis XVI style,” says director Christopher Falaise. On the walls of the corridors, the Plan Turgot, and on the walls of the rooms, wall fabrics with motifs and colors dating from the eighteenth century which have been researched~ as this blue sky, a real marvel. The Artus hotel rather outlines a design more suited to clients ‘young and relaxed’. In modern inspiration, he even offers original works of artists in the rooms. As for Madison, it is a deliberate cultural map. He who has housed famous characters like Albert Camus or Jean Mermoz, wants to become a place of literary events: “We organize readings in the Rotunda around a tasting of Bordeaux. Americans in Paris love it! “Enthuses Caroline Demon, director of Madison.
A Quality Own Group
Within the group, commercial and administrative services are crosscutting and common to all hotels. But as regards to the management of hotels and men, Jean-Luc Binet insisted that “the human is at the heart of all debates, as well as environmental concerns.” During renovations, the hotels are equipped with LEDs, the EDF group buys a share of renewables in electricity, and suppliers (paints, carpets) are environmentally responsible.
